General
6 questionsDineSync is a comprehensive hostel mess management platform that bridges the gap between students and mess administration. It allows students to rate meals, report issues, vote on specials, and helps the administration manage waste and operations efficiently.
Yes! DineSync is completely free for students. Institutions pay a subscription fee to manage their mess operations using our platform. There are no hidden charges for students.
DineSync is a progressive web app (PWA) optimized for all devices. Simply visit dinesync.app on any browser — no app store download needed. You can also "Add to Home Screen" for an app-like experience.
DineSync works on any device with a modern browser — Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, and Linux. The responsive design adapts perfectly from mobile phones to large desktop monitors.
Absolutely. We use industry-standard encryption (TLS 1.3), secure authentication with MFA support, and follow OWASP security guidelines. Your data is never sold or shared with third parties.
Open the mess link (e.g. dinesync.app/m/<slug>/about). At the bottom of the public mess page you'll find a "Report this mess" button. Anyone with the link can flag the mess for spam, fraud, impersonation, or inappropriate content — our moderation team reviews every report. You don't need to be a member of that mess to report it.
For Students
6 questionsKarma Points reward the two actions that help the mess plan ahead: skipping a meal in advance (+10 pts) and RSVP-ing for a meal (+10 pts). Cancelling either one returns the points. Your total appears on your dashboard and on the karma leaderboard.
Yes, absolutely. The Whistleblower Module allows you to submit complaints anonymously with photo evidence. Your identity remains completely hidden from mess staff, visible only to the Hostel Warden/Admin if necessary for investigation.
The Rush-o-Meter is updated in real-time by mess staff. Green means empty, Yellow means moderate, and Red means crowded. Check it before leaving your room to avoid long queues and plan your meals smartly.
Yes! The Sunday Battle Voting feature lets students vote on Sunday specials and monthly favorites. The most voted dish gets cooked. Democracy never tasted so good.
Go to the "Skip / Leave" section in your dashboard. Mark meals you'll skip at least 4 hours before serving time. This helps the mess reduce food waste and earns you Karma Points as a reward.
Your complaint is instantly sent to the mess staff dashboard. You receive a ticket number to track progress. If unresolved within 24 hours, it automatically escalates to the admin. You'll get notifications at every step.
For Staff & Administration
4 questionsLog in to your Staff Dashboard and use the "Menu Manager" to plan daily and weekly menus with nutrition data. Changes are instantly reflected on all student dashboards with push notifications.
For anonymous complaints, student identities are protected. For identified reports, you can view the student's name. The system balances transparency with privacy to encourage honest feedback.
The Waste Tracker lets you log daily food waste amounts. Combined with the RSVP skip data, DineSync provides predictive analytics so you can prepare the right amount of food and reduce waste by up to 30%.
Admins can assign granular permissions to each staff member — menu management, complaint handling, poll creation, announcement posting, and more. Full control over who can do what.
Payments & Billing
2 questionsStudents can pay mess fees directly through DineSync using UPI, debit/credit cards, or net banking. Payment history, receipts, and due dates are all tracked automatically in the Payments section.
Refund policies depend on your institution's settings. Some messes offer pro-rata refunds for pre-registered meal skips. Check the Payments section or contact your mess admin for specifics.
Technical
3 questionsBasic features like viewing saved menus and your ticket history work offline. Rating meals, submitting complaints, and real-time features require an internet connection. Data syncs automatically when you're back online.
DineSync uses web push notifications. When you first visit, you'll be asked to allow notifications. Once enabled, you'll receive alerts for menu changes, ticket updates, meal timings, and announcements.
Yes! DineSync offers a RESTful API for institutions that want to integrate with their existing systems — ERP, attendance, or billing software. Check our API documentation for details.
